Stock Spirits and Sipsmith Gin: a Successful Union for a Global Gin Renaissance
Stock Spirits is the new Italian distributor of Sipsmith Gin, the distillate that marked the rise of the global ‘gin renaissance’.
The story of Sipsmith London Dry Gin was born from the friendship between Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall. The two friends then met Jared Brown, one of the most important writers and historians of mixing in the world of bars.
The Best London Dry Gin in the World
The three founders decided in 2007 to work together to produce the best London Dry Gin in the world. The first obstacle that stood in their way was an old law from 1823 that prevented distillers from obtaining a licence for an alembic smaller than 1,800 litres. Determined to use their new alembic with a capacity of only 300 litres, the three founders became personally involved in this battle and succeeded in having this old law amended by petition in 2008.
The Gin Renaissance
Thus began a ‘gin renaissance’. Within a few years, in 2012, as the passion for craft gin grew and spread throughout the UK, the “three musketeers” embarked on an even bigger undertaking: establishing Sipsmith Gin as the perfect London dry gin internationally, soon spreading to over 50 countries worldwide. By adding this product to its portfolio, Stock Spirits consolidates its position in the market, completing the Beam Suntory product range for which it is already the Italian distributor.
The Quintessence of this Distillate
Sipsmith London Dry Gin is the quintessence of this distillate, in the most classic and traditional of its meanings. Thanks to the use of lemon and orange peel, combined with iris root and liquorice, together with the fundamental ingredients of a London dry gin. This distillate has fresh, floral notes on the nose, while immediately recalling the strong notes of juniper and citrus marmalade on the palate. Its complexity, combined with a strong taste for tradition, makes it as perfect for a Gin Tonic as for a drier Martini Cocktail. The Sipsmith Gin range, distributed entirely in Italy by Stocks Spirits, also includes VJOP, Very Junipery Over Proof Gin, a 57.7° distillate designed to satisfy juniper lovers, and Sloe Gin, an ancient and traditional version of gin, left to rest on wild sloe berries picked in autumn.
